ATSC Announces New Coaching Director Structure for 2009-2010

Starting July 1, ATSC will have a new structure to the technical leadership of the club. With the way ATSC has grown and evolved, ASA wanted to be sure that we were properly serving our players, coaches and families with the best possible service and programmatic opportunities available. Therefore, instead of having one Director of Coaching trying to oversee over 50 teams and a number of coaches, ATSC will have a three person staff managing the overall technical aspects of the club.

  • Grant Smith, longtime ATSC DoC, will become the Boy’s Director of Coaching. This position will focus on boy’s teams within the club, overseeing coaching assignments, training and evaluations, as well as helping to provide general direction to the club with regards to technical decisions and on-field activities. Grant hold a USSF A Coaching License and has been with the club 7 years.

  • The Girls Director of Coaching will be longtime ATSC coach Curtis Wilson. Curtis holds both B and National Youth Coaching Licenses from USSF. He has be an Assistant Coach with the Marymount Women’s team and an ODP State and District Head Coach along with coaching in ATSC. He will have the same duties as Grant, but will be focused on the girl’s side of the club.

  • Jawed Sanie has been named to the third position, the Director of Player Development. This position will focus on camps, clinics and other training and development strategies to help create a cohesive club development model that will further the skills and talents of ATSC players. Jawed brings a wealth of experience from years of coaching around northern Virginia. He holds an NSCAA Advanced National Coaching License.

Grant, Curtis and Jawed will work together to provide a first class program for ATSC players, coaches and families. We are excited about the new structure and feel that it will strengthen an already strong club.
