U17B Venom Bring Home State Cup Trophy
Congratulations Venom!

November 8, 2009 — Richmond, VA — The U17B Venom returned home from VA State Cup Finals in Richmond carrying the State Cup Champions Trophy. The Venom were pitted in the finals against Beach FC whom they have played the last two years in the State Cup Semis. After two years of returning home having lost to Beach FC, the Venom triumphed today with a hard-fought 2-0 win. As anticipated, the game was fast and physical with both teams constantly challenging the opposing defense in the box. ’While the Venom victory was a team effort special mention goes to goalie Shane Leonard whose brilliant work kept Beach FC frustrated for 90 minutes and Josh West who was named ’man of the match’ having scored both Venom goals in the 2nd half of play. While the spectators enjoyed the sun and warm temperatures the weather provided an unexpected challenge to the boys on the pitch. Muscle cramps! Players from both teams valiantly fought through the pain as the game wound down to the final whistle. Read more.
