The competition will be played excusively on all-weather synthetic grass fields. There will be a separate weekend for boys and girls matches. The tournament is sanctioned by US Youth Soccer, is unrestricted, and open to competitive travel teams featuring 3 preliminary games plus a championship round.
 
Competition Dates:
  • Boys U10-15, March 5-7, 2010 (friday night 3/5 games featuring local teams)
  • Girls U10-15, March 12-14 2010 (friday night 3/12 games featuring local teams)

Format: U10 - 7v7. U11-U12 -  8v8.  U13-U15 - 11v11.

U-15 - August 1, 1994 and younger
U-14 - August 1, 1995 and younger
U-13 - August 1, 1996 and younger
U-12 - August 1, 1997 and younger 
U-11 - August 1, 1998 and younger
U-10 - August 1, 1999 and younger

Level of Play: Teams interested in a highly competitive level of play and possess a track record of league and/or tournament success are encouraged to submit an application. Given the selective nature of this tournament there will be a maximum of 16 accepted teams per age group/gender for U10-U12 in a premier and classic bracket.  Up to 24 teams will be selected per age group/gender for U13-U15 in a premier, elite, and classic bracket.  Up to 8 teams per bracket. It is advisable to apply for the level of play that best fits your team. "Playing Up"  requests will be considered for NCSL/WAGS Division 1 Champions, State Cup Champions/Finalists, Region 1 Premier League teams, and U12 teams seeking to play 11v11 competition.

Competitive Profile:  The Arlington Spring Invitational has become increasingly competitive since the event’s inception in March 2006. The use of the Arlington areas synthetic turf fields has allowed the tournament to play all games while other events have been cancelled due to wet ground conditions. Favorable playing conditions and a field of outstanding teams has made the Spring Invitational a popular event. The 2009 tournament featured 8 State Cup Champions, 9 State Cup Finalists,  and 10 Semi-Finalists.

  • Boys - Premier, Ranked #8 Nationally, #2 in Virginia (May 09) 
  • Girls - Platinum, Ranked #3 in Virginia, #58 Nationally (May 09) 

Premier Level

  • U10-U11: Top level club teams, competitive with similar top teams in the Metro DC area or Region 1.
  • U12-U15: Division 1/Premier level of play, successful in State Cup, high profile competitions, and regional play.
  • Acceptance Rate: 66% of applied teams.

Elite Level (new in 2010)

  • U13-U15: Top level club teams, highly competitive within their leagues up to Division 1 or 2 level of NCSL/WAGS and similar travel leagues in the Mid-Atlantic region. Teams should have a demonstrated record of success in competitive tournaments. 

 Classic Level

  • U10-U11: Teams seeking a challenging tournament featuring moderate competition common to NCSL/WAGS or similar travel leagues in the Mid-Atlantic states.
  • U12-U15: Teams seeking a challenging tournament featuring up to the Division 4 level of NCSL/WAGS or similar travel soccer leagues in the Mid-Atlantic states.
  • Acceptance Rate: 67% of applied teams.

Players/Rosters: 11v11- 18 players with up to 4 guest players.  7v7 and 8v8 - 14 players with up to 4 guest players.

Awards: Champions and Finalists in each age group.

Fees: U10-U11 teams- $475, U12 teams- $550, U13-U15 teams - $625
 
Accepted Teams:  Notification sent January 31, 2010.
