Club-Wide Online Registration Begins June 28, 2004
The ATSC portion of player registration is moving online
Beginning June 28, 2004, each ATSC soccer family will register their players online and ATSC and ASA dues will now be paid online.

The Fall 2004 registration fee is $58 ($46 for ATSC dues and $12 for ASA dues); the remaining Fall fees will be paid to and through your team treasurer as before.  The online registration sytem is secure and accepts credit card payments.

As part of the registration process, you will also be able to make an optional donation to ATSC.  Please click here for more information about ATSC's Klurfeld Travel Scholarship Fund, which is used to help our scholarship players.  Any donation, no matter show small, helps our scholarship players.

All Club volunteers (Board members and Committee Chairs) will register under their players’ names.

Families with more than one child in ATSC will register under one household.

If you registered your U9-U11 child for tryouts during May, 2004, your family is already in the system.  If your child was selected after those tryouts, you can register that child, and any additional children in your family who are playing on ATSC teams, by using your family name, telephone number used during the previous registration, and the password that was emailed to you when you completed the tryout registration.

To register, you will need to know your child's team name and year (see the bottom of the Teams page for age groupings).

Scholarship players will need to work out with their team treasurer whether they can afford to pay the $58 Fall registration fee by credit card.  If they can't, or if they must pay by personal check, scholarship players should complete a paper registration form. (The registration form can be found in Documents and Forms or see your team treasurer.)  Full scholarship players will have their fees paid for by the team and the team will apply for scholarship grants and disbursements using the same process as before.  Scholarship players should return the form to the team treasurer.

Players who don’t have access to online registration or payment options will also need to complete a paper registration form, and those players will need to pay the ATSC fees by check made payable to ATSC.  (The registration form can be found in Documents and Forms or see your team treasurer.)  Players without online access should return the form and a check for $58 made payable to ATSC to the team treasurer.

However, everyone else is expected to register online.

There are some key benefits to online registration: it will identify volunteers for our club, promote fundraising initiatives, and allow us to communicate via email to targeted groups or to our collective organization.  Once club registration is completed we will be able to take advantage of having a clubwide database of players, families, and team officials.

Thanks for your support as we continue to streamline the administration of our Club.

ATSC Online Registration FAQs
Last updated June 24, 2004

1. Why is ATSC using online registration?
The Club has been thinking about online registration for a while, and the Board approved it in Spring of 2004.  The reasons behind the move are:
  • The need to contact more than just the manager for advocacy, age group issues, etc.  Right now, ATSC has great difficulty communicating with players and parents and needs to be able to reach all ATSC members, not just the managers and coaches.
  • Develop a better system for fundraising.  The online registration system has a check off where families can donate to the Club.  Our Klurfeld Scholarship Fund, which assists in scholarship reimbursement, has not had any significant giving since 2002.  So the bulk of the $10,000 ATSC gives each season comes primarily from dues, and with other activities, like goalie coach training, equipment purchases, etc., we've reduced our budget to the point that next year (2005) we might not have the funds to give $10,000 each season without additional fundraising.
Several ASA Clubs, including the Civitans and Northwest Lions, use this system for their player registration and it has been quite successful.

2.  Is online registration mandatory?
Yes, online registration is mandatory for all ATSC players, coaches and volunteers except those who do NOT have Internet access.  However, free Internet access is available at most public libraries and at many schools.  If you do not have Internet access, a paper registration form is available.  See your team manager (the form can be printed off from the ATSC web site in the "Documents and Forms" page). Eventually, the ATSC registration system will tie in to RosterPro and then the registration system will also be the database for roster development.

3.  What fees are paid via online registration?
Currently, only the Club-wide fees are paid online, which for the Fall 2004 season total $58 ($46 for ATSC and $12 for Arlington Soccer Association).

4.  Are ATSC and ASA dues collected by the team?
ATSC and ASA dues will no longer be collected by team treasurers EXCEPT, if you have scholarship players or players who do not have Internet access or who must pay by check.  Scholarship players and their families will need to work out with the team treasurer whether they can afford to pay the $58 by credit card or personal check (if they are partial scholarship).  Even if those ATSC dues get reimbursed by the Club as scholarship players, we still need the initial $58 to be paid either by the family or the team. Those without Interent access and those who must pay by check should return the registration form and their check to their team treasurer.

5.  How do I pay the fees online?
The online registration system is secure and accepts VISA and MasterCard. If you use the paper form, you will pay by check accompanying the form and give both the form and a check to your team manager.   For those players and families who can not register online, they should get a registration form from the team manager.  Completed forms should then be returned, with a check for $58 made payable to ATSC, to the team manager.  The team manager will send the forms and checks to ATSC.

6.  Can I make a donation using the online system?
Yes, just check the donation field and enter the amount you want to donate.  Donations to the Klurfeld Scholarship Fund are helpful in ANY amount, and are tax deductible.

7.  How are scholarships applied for with the online system?
Scholarship requests will still be submitted via the scholarship form just as before.  All ATSC club-wide fees must be paid by the team first, and then the team is reimbursed for scholarship players.
The team treasurer will send a check to ATSC (c/o Nancy Etkin, Executive Director) to pay the ATSC and ASA dues for that team's scholarship players.  The team will apply for scholarship grants and disbursement will be made back to the team in the same process we use now. Dues collections will continue to be transparent to the Scholarship Committee and the anonymity of the scholarships will be protected.
The team treasurer should let the ATSC Executive Director know how many ATSC/ASA scholarship dues your team is including in your payment to the ATSC Treasurer, or the team can write a separate check to ATSC for just the scholarship players.

8. For families with more than one child (some of whom have older children not currently registered in the online system), will there be a way to register any child not currently in the system?
As long as you’ve used the system before (for tryouts or a previous registration), you enter as a returning registrant.  There will be pull down team names, so after you’ve entered your child who was registered for tryouts or whom you have previously registered, you then enter any remaining child who still must be registered.

9.  Will ATSC notify treasurers and/or managers for each team if certain of their players have not paid dues by a certain date?
The ATSC Executive Director will notify managers if ATSC has not received payment by September 1 and then again by September 15.  The due date for rosters is September 15, but we're hopeful that players can pay dues before then.  If the system can identify who each team’s treasurer is, then the Executive Director will be able to notify treasurers directly rather than managers.  We don’t know all the items in the system well enough yet to tell you how this first notification will be handled.

10.  Do you anticipate that you will use the same system in the spring, so that families can anticipate having to pay dues again and watch for the due dates?  Are you planning to send reminders about this and, if so, to whom?
This is a permanent change to how ATSC handles player registration.  The Spring 2005 ATSC fee will be $46, because we pay ASA dues ($12) only in the Fall.  So yes, teams need to know that we will now be registering online.

11.  Is it also your intention that the treasurer for each team attempt to identify those families without computer access and somehow verify that they have sent in checks to cover those dues for their children?  Also, how do you expect families without computer access to obtain a registration form that is available online, i.e., how will they download it?
We hope the manager will know which families don’t have computer access.  In one team’s case, the team manager knew which families didn’t have email addresses, so the team knew who would need online registration assistance.  The manager or some designated team parent will print off a copy of the form, assist the family in filling it out, or ask for the information by phone, and then THAT person will enter it into the system.
The family can either write a check, which they should give to the team manager, or if they have a credit card and are comfortable with the manager entering that information, they can pay that way.  Remember, if a family has a scholarship player, the team may need to front the money and pay the registration fee on behalf of the scholarship player.  So that issue will need to be addressed by the team in the most efficient way for that team.
