Definition and Explanation of ATSC Team Levels

The reason we define our team levels is to determine the expectations for the teams and its players and parents. A team can move in and out of each level based on team success. Each team will be reviewed each year by the Coaches Committee, the Directors of Coaching and the Director of Player Development and given an official level rating by the end of the tryout season.

Team Rankings U13 and Older:

  • Premiere Level — Generally, this will be a top team in a specific age group in the Club. This team must be at a certain league division level (Between 1-3) in NCSL, WAGS and Region 1. Teams striving to become premier level teams will be considered for this level. The decision regarding placement will be made by the senior technical staff with input from the Coaches Committee.

  • Elite Level — Generally, this will be a mid-level team in a specific age group in the Club. This team must be at a certain league division level (Between 4-6) in WAGS and NCSL. The decision regarding placement will be made by the senior technical staff with input from the Coaches Committee.

  • Club Level — Generally, this will be a developmental level team in a specific age group in the Club. This team can be in the lowest divisions of WAGS or NCSL and any Division in ODSL. The decision regarding placement will be made by the senior technical staff with input from the Coaches Committee.

Some criteria used for ranking a team:

  1. Region 1/NCSL/WAGS/ODSL division ranking and membership
  2. Tournament success based on rating of tournament and results in tournament
  3. Historical data regarding team placement and success
  4. Overall commitment level of the team towards their individual and collective soccer development/goals.

Note: There can be more than one of the same level of team in any specific age group and/or gender. An age group can also have multiple level teams in it.
