U19B Action Goes Undefeated in Division

The U19B Action played in the Triangle Friendlies on January 31 and February 1 in Fayetteville, NC, with a goal to get some interest from college coaches. This goal was achieved. They went undefeated in the Green Division, with only 2 subs for almost the entire tournament. Playing in the tournament was: Michael Gorrell, Alex Elvira, John Wright, Freddy Castro, Andrew Piemonte, Clarke Birrell, Jesse Phillips, Edwin Moreno, Ben Slone, Luis Estrada, Takahiro Nakamura, Eric Kolker, Michael Henning, Luis Gochez-Carranza and Cristian Castro-Fuquene. Head coach John McAuley coached the team.

Two weeks later they headed to Williamsburg to play in the President’s Day Cup on Feb. 14 and 15, once again with a goal to get some interest from college coaches. Again, this goal was achieved. And once again, they only had 2 subs for the tournament and several players got sick and injured throughout the weekend, one got food poisoning on Saturday. They went 1-1-1, coming in second place in their flight. On Sunday, with a flu inflicted side, they lost a very competitive and tough game to the Virginia State Cup Champs, the Virginia Legacy SC Wizards 3-2, in an 8am contest. Playing in this tournament was: Adrian Acosta (guest player/goalie), John Wright, Freddy Castro, Andrew Piemonte, Clarke Birrell, Jesse Phillips, Edwin Moreno, Ben Slone, Takahiro Nakamura, Michael Henning, Luis Gochez-Carranza, Cristian Castro-Fuquene and Brian Donohoe. Once again, head coach John McAuley coached the team.
