U19 B Action and U17 B Legend
August Cup 2008 - All Arlington Final
The final of the U17-U19 2008 August Cup in Germantown, MD was an all-Arlington affair. The U17B Legend and the U19B Action met in the top flight final with the Action coming out on top 2-0. Coaches McAuley (Action) and Barlow (Legend) joked before the game that the final should have been moved to Yorktown so everyone could get home earlier. The game was even for much of the first half with both teams creating scoring chances. The Action capitalizing on one to take the lead 1-0 at the half. The game intensified in the second half and the Action took advantage of a mistake in the Legend defense and put the game away.
Both teams reached the final going 3-0 in group play. The Legend scoring 9 goals and allowing none while the Action scored 6 and allowed 2.
Congrats to both teams!
U19 B Titans
Titans lost a close match in the finals of their Labor Day Tournament, 2-1 against the MPS 90 team from McLean. The Titans won their first four games, including two shutouts to qualify for the finals today.
U17 B Fusion
The Fusion competed in the SYA Cardinal Cup, finishing 2nd Place in the HS Boys Premier bracket, the weekend of August 16/17, 2008. The weekend saw a number of great moments from the return of Danny from a back injury that kept him out of the Spring 2008 season to the team scoring a total of 14 goals and Alex keeping 3 clean sheets over the course of the weekend. Goals were scored over the weekend by Kevin, Danny, Arthur, Daniel, Matt, George, Jay, Fitz and Freddy. The Fusion lost a tough one to the SYA United, another Div3 team but got the results we needed in our other games and accomplished our goals for the weekend: work together and have fun!
U11 G Rowdies
The U11G Rowdies Red were crowned champions of the SYA Cardinal Cup during the August 16 – 17 weekend. Saturday ended with ties against the SYA Sceamers (2-2) and the VSA Heat (1-1). Sunday saw the Rowdies pick up their game with two shutouts against the FASA Premier Spiders (2-0) and the SYA Velocity (1-0) to claim the championship. Congratulations Rowdies: Hannah, Rachel, Grimaldi, Kristen, Mills, Rita, Catie, Fiona, Jessica, Kehoe, Jasmin, Haley and Leanne.
