Coach and Volunteer of Year Awards
Congratulation Farzad Mahoudpour and Hilary Phillips

On Wednesday August 20, 2008, at the Club Council meeting Steve Lent presented Awards for the ATSC Coach and Volunteer of the Year. ATSC named Farzad Mahmoudpour as Coach of the Year and Hilary Phillips as Volunteer of Year.

Farzad has coached FC Arlington for the last two and a half years. He managed to advance the team from Division 5 of NCSL all the way to Division 1. He did this by developing each and every player on the team. Everyone played in all the games regardless of what was at stake. He was able to recognize individual strengths and improve weaknesses and create a team chemistry that was unrivaled.

Farzad played professional soccer in Iran for 11 years and this background provides him the insight to develop strategies and tactics that produce excellent results. The parents of FC Arlington are extremely grateful for his excellent coaching style, his love of the game and his way of making soccer fun. This fall Farzad will continue to coach U16B FC Arlington and will also coach the U13G Flame.

Hilary Phillips has volunteered for ATSC for many years. She has been the manager of the Arlington Action for the last nine years and Secretary of the Board for the last two. Before that, she was the uniform coordinator for the club, a job she has taken over again. Other jobs she has held include tryouts coordinator and ASIST site coordinator. She has been a real asset to ATSC and we hope to keep her involved even after her son graduates this year.
