U19G Flash
The Flash won the PWSI Icebreaker held March 29-30. The Flash tied their first two group games 0-0, won the semi-final 2-1 and the final 2-0. Congratulations to the Flash on their first tournament win since winning the Virginian in 2005.
U15B Arsenal
The U15B Arsenal captured the "W" division championship in the PWSI Icebreaker held March 29-30. The final game was decided by penalty kicks after two overtime period. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ARSENAL AND COACH MO!
U14B Generals
The U14B Generals won the U13-14 division of the 2008 Blue and Grey Cup in
Fredericksburg . The Generals only gave up one goal during the tournament. Congratulations!
U13 G Explosion White
The U13G Explosion White won its bracket at the PWSI Icebreaker Tournament (March 29-30). The Explosion White scored 12 goals in 4 games while allowing only 1. After going 2-0-1 in the preliminary rounds the Explosion met the Stafford Everton in the final. The Explosion got off to an early start with Stephanie Cheney blasting a shot past the
Stafford goalie in the first 5 minutes of the game. The Explosion scored 3 more goals in the first half, one more from Stephanie, and one each from Claire Slevin and Maggie Coppa. The Explosion closed out the scoring in the second half with a goal from Brittany Raze. Congratulations to the entire team!
U12B Firestorm
The Firestorm claimed victory in the top bracket of the PWSI Icebreaker Tournament (March 29-30) with 3 wins and a tie. The Firestorm opened with a 1-1 tie against a talented CYA Shock and then defeated SAC United Classic 2-1 in the second game on Saturday. As the runners up in their division on goal differential the Firestorm played the winners of the other division, PWSI Courage. The Firestorm won 2-0, gaining a trip to the finals. In the final the Firestorm met a familiar opponent the CYA Shock. The Shock scored first on a well-placed shot from the top of the penalty box and went to halftime with a 1-0 lead. The Firestorm came back in the second half and scored 2 quick goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Firestorm offense continued to attack and the defense stepped up when needed to keep the Shock in check and give the Firestorm a 2-1 win and the Championship. Congratulations!
U10 Boys Impact Red
The U10B Impact Red had a very successful weekend at the PWSI Icebreaker (March 29-30). Impact Red had three very convincing wins in their group play, defeating the CHAN Strikers 5-0, BRYC Thunderbirds 6-1, and the Great Falls Hot Spurs 6-0. These wins allowed Impact Red to advance to the finals against the FASA Fire, of
Fredericksburg . The game against the Fire was a close fought battle between two talented teams. Despite less than ideal field conditions, the game went back and forth with good scoring chances for both teams. Ultimately, it took a collective effort from the entire Impact Red team in order to pull of a close 2-1 victory over the FASA Fire.
U10 Boys Impact White Take Home Championship In PWSI Icebreaker Tournament
Solid defense and a potent offense led the U10 Boys Impact White to a four-game sweep enroute to the Championship of the PWSI Icebreaker U10 White division. The Impact blasted host PWSI Courage 98 Red 8-0 in the opening game, then built on the momentum, defeating Richmond Kickers Inter-Milan 5-4 on Saturday afternoon before wrapping up their flight with a decisive 4-1 victory over the Leesburg Lions Sunday morning to earn a berth in the championship game against Vienna United Black. In the finale, the Impact struck early and hard, scoring four goals on a balanced offensive attack in the first half while shutting
Vienna down on defense, going on to win the championship game 5-1. Kudos to the Impact White, consisting of Cullen Boone, George Castillo, Ben Galdo, Christophe Gerlach, Sam Holmes, Noah Peizer, Cameron Rodrigues, Ben Stern, Sam Wall, Aidan Wang, Brandon White and Danny Vado. The Impact White also congratulates its brother team, the Impact Red, which cruised to the Championship of the PWSI Icebreaker Red division.
Finalists
U17B Titans
The U17B Titans were finalists in the MSC March Madness tournament, held March 29-30 at the Maryland Soccerplex in the U17/U19 bracket. On Saturday, the Titans won twice against two U19 teams, TAP Real and MSC United. On Sunday morning, with a trip to the final on the line, the Titans tied the PA Classics Elite (currently ranked 2nd in
Pennsylvania and 7th nationally) team and advanced to the final on the shutout tie-breaker. In the final they had a disappointing but hard fought 2-0 loss to MSC Synergy Lightning.
U15B Premier 92
The U15B Premier 92 are finalists in the PWSI Icebreaker. They final was decided by penalty kicks.
U12G Flame
The U12G Flame finished 2nd in the MSI March Madness tournament at the Maryland Soccerplex. They finished first in their group to qualify for the finals but lost 3-1 to a good Olney team.
U11G
Ajax and Juventus
The U11G Ajax and Juventus both competed in the CMSSL March Mania in
Columbia, MD (March 1-2).
Ajax competed in the Gold Division and Juventus in the Silver Division. Each team went undefeated through the group stage (
Ajax 2-0-1 and Juventus 3-0-0), in order to reach the Championship. In the final, both teams were defeated by the home-side SAC United Premier and SAC United Kickers, respectively.
Ajax competed in the Jefferson Cup (March 29-30) in the Premier Bracket and took a semifinalist position.
U10 G Rowdies Blue
U10G Rowdies Blue competed in the Jefferson Cup on March 29-30 in
Richmond, VA. For the 1st time in over a decade ATSC was represented in a Championship match in this prestigious event, ranked 5th nationally for Girls tournaments. The undefeated road to the championship went through ESA Liverpool, NJ (3-1), CSA Swarm Gold, MD (3-0) and the host team RICH Strikers, VA (7-0). The Rowdies met the Hempsfield KIXX (PA), ranked 4th in the Nation by soccerincollege.com, in the finals. The KIXX came out aggressive and strong creating a very intense and physical atmosphere unfamiliar to the Rowdies who rose to the challenge. The KIXX went up 2-0 early in the first half but the momentum shifted heavily to the Rowdies after Rowdies Red guest player, Jessica scored 2 great goals to tie it up. Jordan Glenn scored on a direct freekick in to put the Rowdies up 3-2 with 8 minutes to go in the game. The KIXX put their game into high gear and scored 4 unanswered goals in the final minutes to defeat the Rowdies 6-3. Congratulations to the Rowdies Blue: Annie, Jordan, Rachel, Colleen, Grimaldi, Sophie, Hayley, Gabby, Catie, Keelyn, Rebecca, Quinn and Guest player, Jessica and their Coach, Jerry.
