Arlington Travel Soccer Club is strongly commited to ensuring that all players who are selected for our travel teams are able to play, regardless of their families' financial resources.  ATSC teams provide scholarship support for players who cannot pay the full team fee, raising funds in a variety of ways including car washes, yard sales, sales of food and merchandise, delivering phone books, wrapping Christmas presents for tips, and even sponsoring a golf tournament. 

 

To support our teams, ATSC provides scholarship support for teams carrying more than one scholarship player.  For each of the Fall 2002 and Spring 2003 seasons, $10,000 in scholarship funds was distributed to teams requesting help.  ATSC scholarship funding comes from two primary sources:  club dues ($7,500+ per season) and the Klurfeld Travel Soccer Scholarship Fund, hosted at the Arlington Community Foundation.  Other funding sources included donations from the ATSC Coaches Game, income from Arlington Soccer magnet sales, and other ATSC budget sources.

 

The Klurfeld Fund was established in 2000, in memory of Scott and Janis Klurfeld, who were killed in a tragic accident on I-95 while driving their son and a teammate to a preseason tournament for the (then) U14 Arlington Thunder.  The accident, which both boys survived although with serious injuries, deeply shocked and saddened our soccer community.  This accident prompted ATSC to establish the Klurfeld  Travel Soccer Scholarship Fund in their memory.  The Klurfeld Fund provides financial suport to Arlington travel soccer players who might otherwise not be able to afford to play.

 

The Klurfeld Fund exists through the donations of supportive soccer parents and other soccer advocates.  The fund desperately needs replenishing.  Please help ATSC keep our scholarship fund strong by making a tax-deductible donation to the Klurfeld Travel Soccer Scholarship Fund.
