Strikers Red (1996 Boys) is a rising U15 team for Fall 2011 and is always willing to consider dedicated, talented, competitive players with the work ethic, discipline, athleticism, and desire to reach the highest levels while playing the game the right way.  The Red team is part of Arlington’s 1996 Boys ‘Strikers’ group, and is the premier team in that group.  Strikers Red competes in premier-elite tournaments, NCSL, VA State Cup, Summer League, and futsal league play.  Some events considered for the 2011-2012 campaign include: August Cup, Olney Capitol Cup, Discovery Cup, Bethesda Thanksgiving, CASL Showcase, Disney Showcase, Arlington Spring Invitational (ASIST), Alliance Cup, and FC Delco Player’s Cup. 

We offer a positive and fun, yet highly competitive player development focused, Academy-style environment for our players.  Strikers is professionally coached by Chris Smith, who holds the USSF National B and National Youth Licenses as well as the NSCAA National and National Youth Diplomas.  Since joining Arlington in December 2003, Chris has coached several players through to the VA ODP State and Regional pools, was voted as Arlington Soccer Coach of the Year for 2006-2007.  Chris has been a VYSA ODP Staff Coach since 2006.  As a youth player, Chris represented Eastern New York and Region 1 ODP, and was an NCAA National Champion with Williams College in 1995.

As part of Arlington Soccer, Strikers have a wide-range of resources at our disposal.  We play on the best fields in Virginia where Arlington features the highest concentration of premier Field Turf surfaces per capita in the USA.  The availability of these fields allow us to stage several scrimmages and technical sessions throughout the year, including summer camps and year-round Academy-style training.  Arlington maintains one of the capitol-area’s most experienced staffs, featuring several professionals with ODP, college, high school, and USSF A license experience, and Strikers players have regular opportunities to benefit from that experience.  We train through the winter on Field Turf, both indoor and outdoor, as well as at Marymount University where a comprehensive futsal program is available to us.  We host the Arlington Spring Invitational Soccer Tournament (ASIST), a PREMIER rated [GotSoccer] event which serves as a warm-up to the Spring NCSL and Regional League seasons.  [In 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010, the ASIST was one of very few events that played its entire schedule uninterrupted in spite of heavy snowfall, which cancelled nearly every other event in the region.]  Arlington players and coaches also benefit from an Adidas kit sponsorship, as well as a flexible and generous Financial Aid program.
