Team News
Legend Completes its Run
The Arlington Legend U19 Boys (NCSL D1) completed play in the fall of 2009 with a 5-2-2 record in NCSL play good for 3rd place in NCSL D1. The Legend also competed in the CASL Shootout College Showcase in December and finished 2-1. The Legend finished their career ranked in the state of Virginia: #4 by soccerincollege.com, #5 by gotsoccer.com and #8 by nationalsoccerranking.com. Many thanks to the players and parents for the dedication and support of the Legend. Good luck to those participating in high school soccer in the spring of 2010 and to those continuing their soccer careers in college in the fall of 2010.

Legend Names Nathan Shagam Honorary Captain
The Arlington Legend has named former team captain Nathan Shagam as Honorary Captain for the fall 2009 season. Nathan played for ATSC since he was U9 and was the captain of the Legend prior to tearing his ACL in December of 2006 in one of our scrimmages. On the comeback trail in January of 2008, he tore his ACL again, this time playing basketball. After a second recovery he joined the Fusion in the spring on 2009 in order to attempt a final comeback to the Legend. Unfortunately, he suffered a third torn ACL late in the season. Coach Matt said of Nathan "He was always 100% committed to the team. He lead by example and gave everything he had in every practice and every game. I’ll never forget a game at W-L where an opponent had rounded our keeper and was in on goal and ready to celebrate... and as he shot at the open goal, Nathan came sliding in and toe poked the ball miraculously off the line and out. To me, that encompassed Nathan’s work ethic and how much he cared about helping his team at all costs. There’s not really enough I can say about how much he gave to the Legend and to ATSC." All of the current Legend captains and players fully support the decision to make Nathan an honorary captain this season. He’ll always be a part of our team.
