Head Coach Matt Barlow has been coaching soccer since 1991.

Coach Barlow has completed his 18th consecutive season with the Arlington Travel Soccer Club in the fall of 2009.  Since 2001 he has also coached for the Sidwell Friends high school boys’ programs in Washington, DC (locally, regionally and nationally ranked in 2008 & 2009).  In the summer of 2004, Coach Barlow coached an under 15 girls’ team representing the U.S.A. (P2P) in the Haarlem Cup at the World Friendship Games in Holland.  Coach Barlow also spent three years (2004-06) as a volunteer assistant coach for Marymount University’s men’s program as well as joining the Northern District Virginia ODP coaching staff in the fall of 2006 and is currently working with the ’98 and ’99 girls VYSA Academy.  In the summer of 2007, he worked as a member of the DC United Youth Academy U13 boys Super Y coaching staff helping them become champions of Mid-Atlantic Group C and coached them at the National Super Y League Finals in Tampa in November.  Also in the summer of 2007, Coach Matt and the ATSC Legend travelled to Italy to participate in the Valtellina Cup.  In the spring of 2009, in addition to the Legend, Coach Barlow assisted both the U14 Arlington FC White boys team as well as the U12 ATSC girls academy teams (Ajax, Juve and Dynamo).  Coach Barlow played collegiately at both Lynchburg College (2nd leading scorer as a soph.) and Colby College (3rd leading scorer, senior year), where he received his B.A. with a major in International Studies and minor in Administrative Science.  Coach Barlow lives with his wife Diana in Falls Church, VA.


Completing his fourth season with the Legend coaching staff in the fall of 2009 is Coach George Shirley.  Coach Shirley has been coaching for the past 7 years in ATSC and currently is the head coach of the U15 Arlington FC White as well as having coached the Warriors (NCSL D1) prior to that.  He currently holds the USSF C license and the NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma.  He is also certified in First Aid, CPR and AED use.  George is originally from Arlington and has served on the ATSC Board as well as having been a part of the ATSC Coaches Committee.
