The U17 boys Legend went undefeated at the Triangle Friendlies going 2-0-1 with a +7 goal differential. The team started off with an unfortunate 2-2 draw against SCSC Celtic Green (NC). After going up 2-0 late in the second half the Legend gave up two very late goals including one at the final whistle. Motivated by that game, the Legend came out strong in the second game with 3 goals in each half and crushed FSC Force Premier (NC), 6-0. The final game against BSC Cardinal (NC) was a hard fought affair. The Legend had the upper hand throughout the majority of the first half and gained a 1-0 lead. The second half was more of a battle as tired legs set in, but unlike the first game the Legend remained focused, created some quality chances and held on for the win. Goals were scored by John Goetchius (4), CJ Bartholomew (2), Santi Lopera, Genta Yuzawa, and guest player Mansoor Haider. The defense was lead by co-captains Mark Highsmith and Sam Tubb as well as Eric Malzahn. Goalkeepers Chris Rubel and Joe Conte split time and combined for 2 shutouts. Tubb also played in the All-Star game on Saturday night, leading his grey team over the red team, 4-0 – Tubb played the entire game at center back against top uncommitted juniors and seniors from other squads. The fields were good and the weather was excellent (70+ degrees each day – we got lucky!).
