PARENT ROLES
ASIST TOURNAMENT COORDINATOR
· Coordinates the team’s participation in the tournament

Contact the other team at least 72 hour prior to game (ideally Wednesdays) to verify the directions to the field are correct on the website, and to decide uniform colors.

Report information to coach and co-manager (uniform for game and if there are any directions changes).

After each game, call WAGS rep to report the game score and to report any yellow or red cards issued. Bring manual to ALL games (at least 20 minutes prior to start of game) for Referee review. (We FORFEIT if it is not there within 15 minutes of being called for).

ATSC VOLUNTEER

Each team needs one person to work with ATSC.

Examples of ATSC jobs include board members and committee chairs, tryout coordinators, grant writes, and other committee members.

You have some flexibility about your chosen assignment if you contact ASTC early.

They especially need help from families with small trucks to help with moving equipment or from people who are “handy” to help with repair of goals and equipment.

CO-MANAGER
· Act as liaison between coach(es) and parent committees/ parents
· Ensure the coach(es) and parents are well informed on policy matters including issues that arise in context of Memorandum of Understanding and future coaching/salary negotiations
· Facilitate governance queries through the correct channels
· Attend WAGS meetings and act as liaison between team and organization at such events

Ensure all coaches, players, and parents, are provided with accurate game and practice schedules.

Communicate team information to parents to ensure that everyone is aware of team activities.

Coordinate with the coach and parents on team activities.

FIELD CONDITION MANAGER

Refers to detailed instructions available on the ATSC website

The home team must have field ready for play, including nets/flags, or forfeit the game.

Checks fields on Wednesday or Thursday prior to every home game to ensure grass is cut and lines are clear.

Sets up and takes down nets and flags for all week night and Saturday home games (Arlington County only does this for Sunday games) except Bluemont, TJ Upper and Chesterfield where nets remain in place..

Flags and nets need to be returned to equipment boxes onsite after last game at Kenmore, Quincy, VA Highlands and
Wakefield
. Nets and flags at Greenbriar in equipment room; facility monitor onsite 30 minutes before the first game and the conclusion of the last game.

Teams that do not have their own nets and flags (that’s us) can borrow a set from ATSC by calling Lizzy Stell (703-241-0309). It is best to schedule these about a week in advance.

FIRST AID

Coordinates ice to be onhand at each game and tournaments

Can be certified in CPR and First Aid.

FUNDRAISING

Develops different fundraising ideas for the team.

Where applicable, works with the other Fundraising Coordinators in the age group to develop fundraising strategies for the entire age group to be split equally among the three teams.

Collects and communicates different fundraising options with the entire team.

Initiates and arranges fundraising activities for the team.

Coordinates with the team Treasurer to get funds that have been collected into the team account.

PHOTOGRAPHER

Takes team and individual photos throughout the season for each player.

REGISTRAR

Accountable for player and league registration and for state cup registration.

Coordinates with team families to collect player registration information.

Responsible to get player and coach passes signed in a timely manner.

Work with league representative to ensure that the team and players get properly registered, on time for each season.

SCHOLARSHIP
FUND DRIVE
COORDINATOR
· Researches available scholarship funds and determines which one we (as a team) will support financially.
· Describes fund to parents and solicits funds and if necessary, coordinates any fundraising events.
· Arranges for money we raise to be delivered to recipient fund.
· This fund drive occurs at least once per year.

SOCIAL COORDINATOR
· Plans any team social event, including barbecues, parties, pizza outings, etc.
· Communicates all social events to entire team.
· Coordinates with coach for availability.
· Coordinates dining plans (if required) and any non-soccer activities during tournaments.

STAR
· Volunteers prior to the beginning of the season and has name posted on WAGS website
· Attends annual training and maintains USSF certification
· Arrives at game site with uniform, flags and appropriate footwear ready to serve
· Acts as sideline referee following the direction of the center referee whenever needed

SUMMER OFF-SEASON COORDINATOR
· Research and coordinate team participation in summer camps including identification of local & sleepover camps, soliciting parental and coach approval for the camp, soliciting information regarding best week for the team to go, distributing and collecting registrations and deposits, submitting the camp registration, getting roommates decided, and being the primary point of contact between the team and the camp.
· Explore possible summer soccer leagues for partial team participation

· Coordinates people and ideas to facilitate consensus/ resolution of team issues

TOURNAMENT COORDINATOR

Collaborates with coach to determine when the team will participate in tournaments.

Researches different tournament options for team, then presents them to the coach and families.

Registers the team for the determined tournament(s), including application, coordinating fee with Treasurer, picking up team information the night before tournament, providing game schedules and directions to each family.

Serves as primary point of contact between team and tournament officials.

Obtains and manages team notebook while at tournaments.

Procures and supplies ample number of team patches to the coach at the conclusion of each match.

Arranges hotels for team for away tournaments.

Works with other teams as requested by coach on arrangements.

Coordinates with Social coordinator for tournament dinners and other activities while team is away.

Collects team monies from each family at the beginning of each season and other times that money collection is required.

Communicates positive reinforcement to parents, players, coaches throughout the season.

Either primary or alternate must attend each game.

Ensures spectators observe the spectator line (3 feet from side line and not within the 18 yards of either goal).

· Available to the league as the designated team volunteer should they require assistance with special projects during the season.

WINTER OFF-SEASON COORDINATOR
· Coordinates indoor soccer in the winter and summer camps in the summer for the team. This involves coordination with the other age group teams, finding a league, registration, forming teams at the advice of the coaches, maintaining the schedule, communications with parents, and everything else that goes on with a Winter Indoor Soccer program.
