Generals Win, Lose Over the Weekend
Bow Out of State Cup, but Stay Unbeaten in League Play

(May 1, 2006)

The Generals experienced a down – then up weekend to close out April.

On Saturday the Generals made an early exit from their first State Cup with a 3-0 loss to a strong and talented Chesterfield United side. Playing with a short bench due to Eero’s departure and other conflicts, the Generals simply lost to the better team on the day.

The good news is that the boys got a good measure of where they stand and where they hope to get to. The bad news is, of course, that the sting of defeat is seldom enjoyable.

On Sunday the Generals bounced back to defeat the Ashburn Sting in league play. The Generals had defeated the Sting convincingly in a preseason tournament, but this time the Sting were in mid season form. The Generals left with a well earned 2-1 victory, but also with a warning that the level of play is up throughout the table this season.

The Generals are now undefeated after three matches with two wins and a tie. With two more league games next weekend the Generals are nearing the crossroads for the season

Keep it up boys, and all the hard work will pay off!.
