Columbus Day Tounament Champs
Recap of Columbus Day Tourney Success
The Arlington Fusion finished in the top position of 5 teams in this past Columbus Day Tournament, hosted by the Manassas Area Soccer Club's Battlefield Classic.

The Fusion, bolstered by 3 guest players from the Legend, fought for a 4-0 record that saw them have a 13-4 goals for & against ratio.

Saturday's play found the Fusion beating the Reston Raptors 4-0 in the morning and facing the Great Falls Warriors later the day with a result of 2-1. That second victory was especially hard earned as the Fusion found themselves down 0-1 at the half. With an assist from Jay, Allan was able to secure the win off of a breakaway with only a few minutes to spare.

Sunday's action saw the Fusion facing off against Team America 91 in an early 8 a.m. battle as the sun was coming up and burning the fog and mist off of the ground. There were times during the game, where the ball and the players could not be seperated from a distance.  The Fusion scored within the early minutes of the match and finished the half with a comfortable 3-0 lead. TASC was able to get back into the match with 2 goals before the Fusion sealed it with a 4th and 5th late in the game.
The Fusion's 4th match of the weekend found them facing the CYA Thunder. With a scrappy early goal by PJ, the Fusion went up 1-0 at the half. The Thunder were able to equalize with a quesionable Penalty Kick 15 minutes into the 2nd half.  But in the last 2 minutes of the game, Luis received the ball outside the 18 and buried it to seal the game.

The trophy presentation was a proud ceremony for all of the Fusion players, parents and coach.
