MCSA Fall 2006 Classic Champs
2 wins & 2 ties earn the championship

The area received over 2 inches of rain the week leading up to the tournament, so Saturday’s games had to be reduced to 30 minutes each while Sunday’s were played a full 60 minutes. It was a good cool weekend: perfect soccer weather!

The boys competed against the MCSA Raptors where we tied 1-1 with a goal scored by John. As usual, it was a good battle with the Raptors but a late game mental error cost us the win. Later that morning, we played the MCSA Gold Tigres, a U14 Div 2 team. This was definitely our most competitive game as the Tigres put us under pressure and we never quite mounted an attack. We hung in there for the 0-0 draw.

On Sunday, the boys played Va Rush Swoosh and handed the beach boys a nice 3-0 loss. Goals were scored by John, Danny and David. Later that day, we played the Reston Cobras and got the win 1-0 off a flick in from the head of Daniel.

David again helped us man the goal so that Alex could get some time on the field. Arthur played all minutes of the weekend and did a great job manning the midfield. We lost Pepi on Sunday but had Hank there to help win our back line. Sean was the ’go to" defensive player this weekend, sitting in as both outside backs and as a right midfielder. Mason had to sit out the last game after tweaking his knee and was replaced by Fitz on the right wing. Soufan made the afternoon game and was big in the back. Kevin and George helped rotate through the middle of the field with Chris backing them up. Freddy brought great pace and pressure along the front line with John and Danny. Andrew and Alex helped rotate through the left wing and Daniel ran the attacking mid role.

Altogether a great weekend and perfect way to cap off a great season.
