Game #8 Express beats BRYC 1-0!
Courtney's beautiful goal wins it for Express
The Express avenged a loss from almost 2 years ago by beating Braddock Road NV United 1-0! The team's defense, led by Alika, Lindsey, Hayes, and Carrie continued their stellar play and recorded their FOURTH shutout in EIGHT games! The midfield, led by Karen, Claire B., Jordan, Iliana, Courtney, Alejandra, Molly M., Molly R., and Katja controlled the game both offensively and defensively. Clare T., Carol, and Madelenie created many probelms for the BRYC defensive with their aggresive attacking play. Kat continued with her support and leadership from the sidelines as a team captain who has battled through a frustrating injury all season. Although we felt just a bit short of our goal, overall it was a very positive season for the Express in Division 1 for the first time. We have unfinished business to look forward to in Spring 2007 as we try to become CHAMPIONS of ODSL Division 1!
Game #7 Express loses heartbreaker, 1-0 to McLean Force
The team's injury problems finally caught up with them, and the Express lost their shot at 2nd place against a very tough opponent. Several players had good performances but, as a group, the Express started the game off slowly giving up a corner kick in the first minute of the game and could not get much going offensively throughout the contest. The team looks to rebound against BRYC NV United and finish with a winning record in their first season in Division 1!
Game #6 Express stomps FPYC Freedom 4-0
Carol nets twice, Iliana and Clare T. add goals
The Express played tremendous team defense, allowing only 2 corner kicks the entire game. Two goals were scored very late in each half and the team showed that it is ready to finish the season strong. A great effort was given by all players. Next up for the Express is the very tough McLean Force!
Game #5 Express drops hard fought game to FASA Impact, 2-1
Two Red cards, a penalty kick, and a dissallowed goal featured in wild game.
The Express played a very tough team and came up just short. We had a goal called back for offsides in the first half in a strange scenario. The linesman, who had a great view of the play, did not raise her flag, however, the head referee ran from about 60 yards away and signalled offsides and took away the goal. The Express continued to play hard and the Impact were given two red cards. With 10 minutes left in the game, Clare B. scored a penalty kick to make it 2-1. The Express had several opportunities in final 10 minutes to tie the game but fell just short. We look to rebound next week against FPYC Freedom.
Game #4 Express shuts down Loudoun 1-0
Karen's goal, Alika's save make the difference
The Express earned 3 points at home with a hard-earned victory against a very good squad, the Loudoun Shooting Stars. The entire team had a terrific performance and the defense recorded its 2nd shutout of the season. After a shaky first half, the Express regrouped at halftime and fought very hard for each other to come out on top. Next up for the Express is the Loudoun Columbus Day Tournament Gold Division!
Game #3 Express fall 2-0 to defending Division 1 champion FCSC Flames
Two beautiful shots make the difference in hard-fought game.
The Express got a real taste of what championship soccer at the Division 1 level is all about, losing a hard fought game 2-0. The Express proved that it can compete with the best, having many chances on goal that could have made the difference. We look to rebound next week against Loudoun Shooting Stars.
Game # 2 Carol, Alejandra + awesome team defense= Express's first division 1 win!
Express extinguishes Ashburn Wildfire 2-0
Carol scored on a nice corner kick from Courtney to put the Express up one goal at halftime. In the 2nd half, Alejandra delivered the final goal on a perfectly placed finish. The entire team's defense, led by Alika, Lindsey, Carrie, Hayes, Karen, and a splash of Clare T., Kat, Iliana, Madeleine, Katja, Molly M., Molly R., Clare B., and Jordan did not allow the Wildfire to have many chances on goal.
Game # 1 Jordan at the Buzzer!
The Express earn a 1-1 tie on the road against Stafford Liberty
It wasn't #23 for the Chicago Bulls, but the Express's own Jordan scored in the 6th minute of injury time to help the Express win a hard fought point on the road against a very good team, the Stafford Liberty. An exceptional game was played by the entire team and every player continued to fight hard all the way to the final whistle!
