Coaches' Bios

Head Coach-Shomit Mukherjee

Shomit Mukherjee was an All-District, All-Region, and All-State selection at Osbourn High School in Manassas, Virginia.  Along with assistant coaches Mike Walsh and Nick Brock, Shomit helped his high school team to an overall 16-1-1 record in 1996 which led to a #4 team ranking in the Washington Post.  He earned the reputation as one of the state’s best defenders and led the team in minutes played.

After high school, Shomit went on to play for High Point University (NC), a member of the Big South Conference of the NCAA Division I.  While at High Point, Shomit began his coaching career with Kernersville Soccer Association (KSA).  His U-14G Kernersville Lady Sting won the 2002 North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) State Cup Championship.   Since that time, Shomit has coached at numerous camps and clinics along with MATT and PWSI prior to coaching at ATSC.  In Spring 2007 he was named the Program Director for the Arlington Soccer Plus program, a program which combines after-school tutoring with soccer instruction.   He holds a USSF National "C" license along with a USYS National Youth License.  He has also been an evaluator for the North Carolina and Virginia Olympic Development Program staffs." 

Assistant Coach-Mike Walsh

 

Mike Walsh was an All-District, All-Region, and All-Prince William selection at Osbourn High School in Manassas, VA.  Along with coaches Shomit Mukherjee and Nick Brock, Mike helped his high school team to 16-1-1 record in the spring of 1996.  During that season, Mike set a school record for most assists in a season with seventeen.  Mike finished his high school career as the school’s all-time assist leader with 39 and also contributed 28 goals during his high school career.  After high school, Mike went on to play for VCU (nationally ranked #14 in Division I at season’s end) and helped his team win the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and earn a berth in the NCAA National Championships.  He was the first player in the history of Osbourn High School to make it to the NCAA National Tournament.  After transferring from VCU to Longwood, Mike earned 2nd-team all CVAC (Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference) honors and also earned 2nd-team All-Region honors.  He currently holds a USSF National "D" License.
