Master Ronaldhino’s Outside/Inside Move

Player Challenge # 1 is closed. Congrats to Nicole and Katie who earned Starbucks gift cards for their efforts at learning Ronaldhino’s outside/inside move.

Ronaldhino has a signature move where he is dribbling and has the ball on the outside of his right foot. He fakes as if he is going to push the ball to his right, then very quickly brings his foot around the back of the ball, and cuts it to his left with the inside of his right foot. The keys to pulling this move off are: a) selling the fake by dropping the right shoulder, b) planting the right foot as you cut the ball to the left, and c) accelerating off of your right foot as you cut left to regain posession.

Challenge:
1. Learn and practice Ronaldhino’s move between now and Thursday’s Training Session.
2. Demonstrate this move to Coach Grant and/or Coach Dave on Thursday (11/3).
3. You will have 3 tries.
To win the Prize:
1. You must demonstrate this move while moving.
2. You must sell the fake AND complete the move by accelerating off of the cut.
Prize:
We will give any player who masters this move a $5 gift card to either Starbucks or Blockbuster.

NOTE: When we first saw this video a few years ago, the story was longer and really fascinating. What we remember is this: all of the parts shown in the video are actual parts from the second Honda minivan ever built. When the advertisers pitched the ad, Honda executives said ’no way are we going to let you disassemble one of our 2 minivans to make a commercial’. The Honda engineers thought it was a great idea, and together with the advertisers, convinced Honda management to shoot the commercial. It took something like 6 months (they originally projected 2 months), and after 608 failed attempts, they got it right. For whatever reason, the ad never aired in the US, but was very popular in Europe.
Now, on to the results. We were thinking you’d respond with words like persistence, perserverence, obsession. Here’s what you said:
