U-15 Blitz Has Highest Finish Ever in League and State Cup
Despite losing several players to long-term injuries at the start of the season, the U-15 Blitz was able to make some adjustments and have a banner season. As a quarter-finalist, the team went further in the State Cup than ever before, and also had its best-ever league finish (runnersup in Division 2).
Highlights of the season included defeating the #4 seed in State Cup, the Richmond Kickers Elite, after a tough 1-2 loss last season to the same team (in the Spring Statue Cup). The Blitz showed great spirit in scoring 3 spectacular 2nd half goals, after falling behind in the first half. The Blitz also defeated the other top teams in Division 2 of WAGS (a 3- 2 win over SYA Arsenal, and a 2-1 victory over the Potomac Storm).
The season was really all about the players coming together as a team and stepping up to adjust to the injuries to their teammates. Fortunately, all the injured players are now healthy, and the Blitz is looking forward to the challenges of likely competing in Division 1 for the first time ever in the Spring.
Congratulations, Blitz!

Blitz advances to State Cup Quarterfinals
The Blitz overcame a one goal halftime deficit to defeat the #4-seeded Richmond Kickers Elite, 3-1, on September 29,200. Blitz put forth an excellent TEAM effort, scoring 3 spectacular 2nd half goals - 2 of them from outside the 18 - and yielding few scoring opportunities for the Kickers. Every player showed great spirit and determination in this comeback win against a highly-ranked team. The result is a reversal of a very tight 2-1 loss to the Kickers in the State Cup last Spring.
Katie makes National ODP pool!
Congratulations to Katie, our own #7, on making National ODP camp! Her level of play demonstrates both her hard work and love of the game. Katie has played travel soccer in Arlington since she was U9, and her accomplishments also reflect the emphasis of the club and coach on skills development and helping each player develop their full potential. Katie’s Blitz teammates feel that they have played a not insignificant role over the years in bringing out the best in her!
Katie plays on the 1993 Virginia State Team and attended the ODP Regional Camp in Rhode Island in mid-July. Out of the 385 girls that attended the camp in Rhode Island, 25 girls including Katie were selected to represent Region 1 at the National Camp.
Of the 100 players or so attending the National ODP camp, a publication covering the event noted that there was "exceptional talent and depth at U.S. Soccer’s Girls U-14 National Team ID camp" and selected Katie as one of the ten players in the country in this age group that "caught their eye."
